JAKARTA - France and Britain proposed a one-month partial ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine that does not cover ground battles.

Macron said the ceasefire would include attacks on air, sea and energy infrastructure.
"If a ceasefire occurs, it will be very difficult to verify that (fight) along the front line is respected," Macron told Le happened.
Macron spoke with Le aired when he flew to London to attend a meeting with European leaders, held by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to push for efforts to draft Ukraine's peace plan.
The summit in London came two days after Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's White House meeting with US President Donald Trump ended in heated debate.
World leaders have shown strong support to the Ukrainian leader and pledged to do more to help his country.
"Based on the French-UK proposal, European ground forces will only be deployed to Ukraine in the second phase," Macron said.
There will be no European troops on Ukrainian soil in the coming weeks, Le happened to quote Macron's statement.
"The question is how we use this time to try to reach a ceasefire, with negotiations that will take several weeks and then, once peace is signed, the deployment (force)," the French President continued.

Macron said his country and other European countries should spend more on defense.
