Woman Suspected Of Being Victim Of Crocodile Attack Found By SAR Team In Pangkalpinang

BABEL - A woman is suspected of being the victim of a crocodile attack on the Selindung River bridge area, Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung. The local SAR team immediately evacuated the victim's body.

"We carried out this evacuation process after we previously received information about the discovery of the body by a fisherman who was crossing around the river," said Head of the Pangkalpinang Search and Rescue Office I Made Oka Astawa in Pangkalpinang, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, March 2.

The fisherman saw pieces of a human body on the banks of the river and other pieces floating not far from the location where the body was found.

Knowing this, the fisherman immediately reported to the Pangkalpinang Search and Rescue Office asking for evacuation assistance.

"We immediately assigned a Rescue Team to evacuate the body. Arriving at the location of the Joint SAR Team assisted by the Rescue Team, Polairud Polda Babel, Babinkamtibmas and residents evacuated the bodies using boats belonging to fishermen," he said.

At the time of evacuation, the body was not intact, allegedly due to a crocodile attack, and based on information from fishermen, the complainant had seen the crocodile around the body.

Based on the Centrality of the head of the local RT, the bodies that were evacuated were Yuliawati (45), a resident of Jerampu Village who had been hanging for three days who had reportedly not returned.

Local residents also found the victim's motorbike on the edge of the bridge.

"After successfully evacuating the victim's body, we took him to the Depati Amir Pangkalpinang Hospital for an autopsy," he said.

The Commander of the Pangkalpinang Basarnas Team, Supani, explained that the autopsy process is still ongoing and his party is still waiting for the results of the examination.

"We urge the public to always be vigilant and careful when carrying out activities around the river to avoid crocodile attacks that could come at any time," he said.
