Weather Today: Light To Moderate Rain Is Predicted In Most Major Cities

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather in big cities in Indonesia on Thursday, February 27, has the potential to rain.

"Jakarta and Serang have the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning. Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya have the potential for light to moderate rain," said BMKG forecaster Indah Fitrianti in a weather forecast broadcast in Jakarta.

As for Sumatra, light to moderate rain has the potential to occur in Medan, Padang, Tanjung Pinang, and Bengkulu. Aceh has the potential to be shrouded in thick clouds.

Meanwhile, Pekanbaru, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung have the potential for heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

"In the Denpasar and Kupang areas, light rain is predicted. Mataram is expected to rain heavily," he said.

Furthermore, he said, in the Kalimantan region, there is the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning, namely Pontianak, Samarinda, and Banjarmasin. As for Tanjung Selor and Palangkaraya, light rain is predicted.

Moving to the Sulawesi region, he continued, generally has the potential to experience light to moderate rain such as Makassar, Palu, Gorontalo, and Kendari. Mamuju and Manado have the potential for heavy rain.

In Eastern Indonesia, he said, a number of areas have the potential to experience heavy rain, such as in Ternate, Nabire, Jayawijaya, and Merauke. Ambon is predicted to experience light rain. As for Manokwari, Sorong, and Jayapura are cloudy.
