West Sumatra Police Arrest 2 15 Kilogram Cannabis Couriers

The West Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) arrested two residents who were caught carrying dried marijuana ready for distribution weighing 15 kilograms.

"The two perpetrators picked up marijuana-type drugs to the North Sumatra area to be circulated in the West Sumatra region," said Director of Drug Investigation at the West Sumatra Police Kombes Nico A Setiawan in Padang, Wednesday, February 26, as reported by ANTARA.

The chain of cannabis trafficking could be cut off by officers when the two perpetrators were intercepted in the middle of the trip.

Nico said the two perpetrators were arrested by the police while on the side of the road, precisely in the Tilatang Kamang area, Agam, West Sumatra.

Based on the perpetrator's statement, it is known that the marijuana that was picked up to the North Sumatra area was planned to be circulated in the Payakumbuh City and Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra.

"We immediately arrested the two perpetrators and are now being detained to undergo the investigation process, while 15 kilograms of marijuana were confiscated as evidence," he explained.

Nico explained that the two perpetrators were residents of Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra with the initials AM (51) JSH (41).

The two perpetrators who are now suspects are charged by the police with a crime of violating Article 114 paragraph (2), subsidiary to Article 111 paragraph (2), Jucnto (Jo) 132 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
