Joining The Retret In Magelang, Kubu Raya Regent Affirms Stay Loyal To PDIP

PONTIANAK - The Regent of Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan, Sujiwo, emphasized that he would remain loyal to the PDI-P even though he decided to keep participating in the retreat at the Military Academy, Magelang, Central Java.

He decided to take part in the retret because he was part of his responsibility as a regional head who was bound by an oath of office.

"Although the PDI-P has instructed the cadres to postpone their participation in the agenda, I chose to remain present because I consider the retreat as a state agenda," Sujiwo said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 24.

He said the retreat was an agenda for the government or state and regional heads to be part of the state.

"I have also been bound by the oath of office that I pledged at the State Palace on February 20. Therefore, I decided to keep participating in this retreat," he said.

Sujiwo emphasized that his decision was not a form of disobedience to the party, but a form of service to the people, as taught by the PDI-P.

"I personally think that what I have decided is not an disobedience to the party. Why? Because the party itself always reminds us to always be loyal to the source, namely the people," he said.

As treasurer of the West Kalimantan PDI-P DPD, Sujiwo is aware of the consequences of his decision and is ready to accept any sanctions given by the party. However, he emphasized that his loyalty to the PDI-P remains unchanged.

"If later the party considers this a form of disobedience, I am ready to accept sanctions. Whatever the sanctions later, I am ready, and that will not reduce my loyalty to the PDI-P," he said.

Sujiwo's decision reflects the dilemma that is often faced by regional heads who have a government responsibility as well as loyalty to the party. However, he claims to stick to the principles of the interests of the state and the people must be a top priority.
