Police Call The Glodok Plaza Fire Due To Electric Short Circuit On The 9th Floor

The results of an investigation by the National Police Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) stated that the Glodok Plaza fire, Tamansari, West Jakarta was caused by electrical short circuits on the 9th floor of the building.

The short circuit started from a cable strand behind a videotron on the 9th floor of the building.

"From the results of the Labfor, there is a short circuit behind the videotron, so there is a cable behind the videotron. There is a short circuit that causes sparks," said West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Arfan Zulkan to reporters at the location on Friday.

Hingga kini, pihak kepolisian sudah memeriksa sebanyak 42 saksi terkait kebakaran besar yang terjadi pada Rabu, 15 Januari.

"We have examined a number of 42 witnesses from Glodok Management, Tiara Management (entertainment venue), from survivors from related expert witnesses for opinions that we listened to. We have examined with a total of 42 witnesses," said Arfan.

Furthermore, the crime scene processing will be carried out after the Glodok Plaza management has completed cleaning the fire area and in accordance with the results of the examination of the witnesses.

"The crime scene itself is waiting for the cleaning of the materials inside. If for example it is 'clear' for cleaning on the 7th and 8th floors," added Arfan.

It also did not rule out the possibility of a suspect in the fire.

"What is certain is that later we will hold a case, or later from the TKP process later we will also investigate," said Arfan.

In the final search process, the joint team did not find any body parts of the victims of the Glodok Plaza fire, Tamansari, West Jakarta, Friday, February 21.

"We didn't find it again today in the end, we didn't find any body parts," said Karodokpol, Police Medical and Health Center (Pusdokkes) Brigadier General Nyoman Eddy Purnama Wirawan to the press after a search at the location, Friday.

However, said Nyoman, his party found a number of properties that allegedly belonged to fire victims.

"We just found just a kind of property, there was a waist bag, then there were glasses. We found two important things," said Brigadier General Nyoman.
