The Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto was finally officially detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today.

Hasto was caught in a bribery case in the interim replacement (PAW) and the obstruction of the investigation.

From observations at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Hasto was exhibited wearing an orange vest and his hands were handcuffed. When he entered the press conference room, the politician seemed to smile.

At that time, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto; KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu; and KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika were already in the room. Hasto then smiled before finally entering the transit room.

Furthermore, Hasto will be detained for the next 20 days and will be extended according to the needs of investigators.

"Detention was carried out at the branch of the State Detention Center from the Class I State Detention Center in East Jakarta," said Setyo.

Setyo said that in this case 53 witnesses and six experts were questioned.

"Also, forced efforts have been carried out in the form of searches in several locations and confiscation of documents, electronic evidence and other items," he said.

Hasto was charged with Article 21 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

As for the bribery case related to the obstruction of the investigation, Setyo said, the process would be carried out in a stimulus manner. This is because the investigation warrant (sprindik) issued on December 23, 2024, focuses more on the application of Article 21.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.
