Police Arrest Telkom Cable Thief From Samarinda Culvert

SAMARINDA - Patrol Unit 110 Beat 1 Team 2 of the Samarinda City Police Samapta Unit (Polresta) arrested a Telkom cable theft perpetrator under the culverts of Khalid Street, Pasar Pagi Village, Samarinda.

"This arrest was due to a quick response after receiving reports from the public that were continued by the Command Center," said Head of the Samapta Unit (Kasat) of the Samarinda Police AKP Baharuddin in Samarinda, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, February 19.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning at around 00.10 WITA. The patrol team consisting of three personnel, namely Bripda M. Salman Al Faarisi, Bripda Argatama Dewantara, and Bripda Francesco Nobel Pardosi, immediately headed to the scene after receiving reports of suspicious activity in the area.

Arriving at the location, the officers immediately checked and coordinated with the Samarinda City Police.

After conducting a brief investigation, the team managed to secure a man with the initials R, who is suspected of being the perpetrator of the theft. R, who is known to live on Pasar Pagi Street, was immediately taken to Samarinda City Police for further legal proceedings.

Baharuddin said that this quick action was part of the police's efforts to maintain security and public order. Thanks to the alertness of the officers, the situation at the location remains safe and conducive.

"We will continue to increase patrols and respond to every public report quickly so that crimes can be minimized," said AKP Baharuddin.

The Samarinda Police appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious incidents so that preventive actions can be carried out as quickly as possible.

Regarding the stolen Telkom cable, for the time being, the Samarinda City Police Criminal Investigation Unit coordinated with Telkom.

The Telkom cable theft perpetrator can be charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code concerning theft, with a maximum imprisonment of five years.
