JAKARTA - Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin admitted that he was disappointed with the decision of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) to submit the Sea Pagar case in Tangerang Regency to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

"I am disappointed with the surrender of the Attorney General's Office in the case of the sea fence," Boyamin said when confirmed, Tuesday, February 18.

According to Boyamin, the reports he made at the AGO and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) intersect with Article 9 of the Corruption Eradication Law.

"If I am article 9 of the Corruption Eradication Law, where is a forgery that is categorized as corruption. Where the official authorized to falsify the data, fake the register book. Now, the punishment is heavier than just ordinary forgery," he explained.

Boyamin admitted that he was very disappointed with the AGO's decision to hand over the Tangerang sea fence case to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

I still hope that the KPK will continue this case. So that later it will still be suspected of corruption. And my steps will sue the pretrial of the Attorney General's Office or the KPK who does not handle cases based on Article 9 of the Corruption Eradication Law," he concluded.

Previously, the Attorney General's Office (AGO) decided to submit a case related to the sea fence which stretches for 30.9 kilometers in Tangerang waters to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

This decision was taken because the criminal object in the case is considered to have similarities with the one being handled by Bareskrim, which is related to allegations of falsification of ownership certificates (SHM) and building rights certificates (SHGB).

The head of the AGO's Legal Information Center, Harli Siregar, explained that the reports received from the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) focused on criminal acts similar to those being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

"The National Police is currently investigating whether there are allegations of forgery in this case, so we prioritize it first," he said on Monday, February 17.
