KRI Nanggala-402 Which Disappeared In Bali Waters Is In A Training Maneuver To Shoot Missiles

JAKARTA - The KRI Nanggala-402 submarine reportedly lost contact in northern Bali waters. Currently the Nanggala submarine is being searched for.

The TNI Commander, Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto, when confirmed by reporters from Jakarta, Wednesday, confirmed the incident. "Still in search of waters in Bali, 60 miles (sea) from Bali," he told reporters, Wednesday, April 21.

According to him, all ships that have underwater search tools are looking for the German-made ship. "Tomorrow morning I will go to the location," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Indonesian Navy's Information Service, First Admiral Julius Widjojono, also confirmed that the KRI Nanggala-402 had lost contact.

"We are currently in the search process," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 21.

Information was obtained that the KRI Nanggala-402 was thought to have disappeared in waters about 60 nautical miles north of Bali Island, at around 03.00 WIT in a diving maneuver.

KRI Nanggala-402 participated in a missile shooting exercise in the Bali Sea, which was planned to be held on Thursday 22 April which was planned to be witnessed by Tjahjanto and the Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Yudho Margono. KRI Nanggala-402 has a "twin brother", namely KRI Cakra-401.

The KRI Nanggala-402 originated from the Type 209/1300 made by the Howaldtswerke shipyard in Kiel, West Germany, which was ordered by Indonesia in 1977, and entered active service in 1981.
