The Perpetrator Of The Murder In Denpasar Consumption Of Methamphetamine Before Stabbing The Victim

Denpasar Police said the suspect BP (33), the perpetrator of the stabbing of a man to death on Jalan Nangka Utara, Denpasar, was positive for using methamphetamine.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Denpasar Police Commissioner Laurens Rajamangapul Haselo said the certainty that the perpetrators used drugs was based on the results of a urine test conducted by the Denpasar Police Narcotics Unit.

Laurens said that not only when he stabbed the victim named Kadek Parwata on Jalan Nangka Utara, Denpasar, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, the perpetrator of BP also took illegal drugs after the bloody incident.

"At the time of the incident, the person concerned had consumed methamphetamine twice yesterday. So, two days until here, urine checks were still positive for consuming methamphetamine," he said, Monday, February 17.

The perpetrator was arrested by the Denpasar Police Satreskrim on Sunday, February 16, 2025, in the Tanjung Perak Port area, Surabaya, East Java. At that time, the perpetrators planned to flee to Tarakan, North Kalimantan.

From the results of the investigation and interrogation, the motive for the murder was allegedly due to a misunderstanding.

The perpetrator was previously suspected of molesting other people in the same place. The perpetrator thought the victim was one of the people he was looking for.

"The suspect was controlled by anger and attacked the victim with a knife, causing fatal injuries which eventually left the victim dead," he said.

The police were forced to shoot both of the perpetrators in the legs because they were about to fight and run away when they were about to be arrested.

The suspect is now detained and charged with Article 351 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding persecution which resulted in death with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
