Langsa Police Thwart The Escape Of 93 Rohingya Ethnic Immigrants

ACEH - Langsa Police thwarted the escape of 93 Rohingya ethnic immigrants who boarded a minibus at Langsa City Terminal, Aceh Province.

Langsa Police Chief AKBP Andy Rahmansyah said dozens of Rohingya immigrants were arrested when the police carried out the 2025 Seulawah Safety Operation in front of the terminal.

"The Rohingya ethnic immigrants were arrested when the police conducted a raid on the 2025 Seulawah Safety Operation in front of the terminal on Monday (17/2/) at around 10.30 WIB," he said in Langsa, Antara, Monday, February 17.

Of the 93 Rohingya immigrants, 32 of them were male. And as many as 51 other women and 10 children. Andy Rahmansyah said that transportation carrying Rohingya ethnic immigrants was discovered when officers stopped the white minibus without a police number during a police raid.

When officers checked the completeness of motor vehicle documents, it was discovered that the passengers of a minibus were a number of Rohingya immigrants. The minibus was driven by Jefriyanto, a resident of Serdang, North Sumatra.

Furthermore, the officers immediately secured the public transportation and its passengers to the Langsa City Type Terminal complex for further inspection.

"Based on the examination of Jefriyanto, the minibus driver admitted that he received an order from someone with Agam's call by telephone. Agam ordered to pick up Rohingya immigrants in Bireuen Regency," said the Police Chief.

Andy Rahmansyah said Jefriyanto departed from Medan for Bireuen Regency on Sunday (16/2). Furthermore, Jefriyano picked up the Rohingya ethnic immigrants and took them to Pekanbaru, Riau Province.

When picking up dozens of illegal immigrants, said the Police Chief, the minibus driver said they were transported by three pickup truck units and stopped at the side of the road.

Furthermore, someone unknown directed the Rohingya immigrants to the minibus driven by Jefriyanto. Then, the minibus moved to Pekanbaru before it was stopped in Langsa City.

"Currently, the minibus driver is at the Langsa Police for further investigation. Meanwhile, dozens of Rohingya immigrants were taken to a shelter in East Aceh Regency," said Andy Rahmansyah.
