Karutan Makassar Denies Issues Of 3 Detainees Of Dangerous Cosmetic Cases Get Special Treatment

JAKARTA - The Makassar Class I Detention Center (Rutan) confirmed that there was no special treatment for detainees who were undergoing legal proceedings, including three suspects in the case of the manufacture and circulation of hazardous cosmetics that were detained by the Prosecutor's Office.

This was said by the Head of the Makassar Class I Detention Center (Rutan) Security Unit, Andi Erdiyangsah Bahar, in response to the emergence of rumors that three suspected dangerous cosmetics were specially treated in Makassar, South Sulawesi (Sulsel).

"There is no special treatment for them to be detained. Our job is to ensure that prisoners remain healthy so that they can undergo the judicial process properly. All procedures are carried out according to the rules, there are no special facilities," he said, confiscated by Antara.

From the information circulating, the suspect Mira Hayati as the owner of beauty cosmetics who was declared dangerous was reportedly released from the Makassar Rutan on the grounds of health problems. Meanwhile, the other two suspects, as well as the owner of dangerous cosmetics, Mustadir Daeng Sila and Agus Salim, were reportedly treated with special treatment at the local detention center.

"The person concerned who left the detention center to get a special health facility at Wahidin Hospital is not true. There was a referral to the hospital based purely on medical reasons and on the recommendation of the clinic doctor DR. Sahardjo Rutan Makassar.

"We just make sure the detainees get the appropriate treatment. Mira Hayati is referred to Wahidin Hospital because her health condition does require further treatment, not because of certain privileges," he explained again.

His party emphasized that Mira Hayati is currently not the full authority of the Makassar Detention Center, but the detainee entrusted by the Prosecutor's Office. Therefore, if you want to leave the detention center, it must be with permission and escort by the Prosecutor's Office in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures (SOP).

Apart from Mira Hayati, two other suspects Mustadir Daeng Sila and Agus Salim, who reportedly received special facilities, Erdiyangsah, again denied the information because it was unclear. He again emphasized that the conditions and rights in the detention center apply equally to all detainees and inmates.

So far, the Makassar Class I Detention Center has experienced an overcapacity of up to 100 percent. The maximum capacity is ideally 1,000 people, but now it has accommodated 2,225 inmates and detainees so that all inmates are not distinguished, all experience the same conditions and treatment.

"One of them is the special cell in the new detention center, namely Mapenaling (environmental introduction period), the room should be inhabited by only three people, but now it has exceeded capacity, inhabited by 15 people. So, nothing is privileged," he said.

Meanwhile, the clinic doctor DR. Sahardjo of the Class I Makassar Detention Center, Dr. St Wahida Jalil, also responded and confirmed that Mira Hayati's condition was worrying so that she was referred to the Central General Hospital (RSUP) Wahidin Sudirohusodo for further treatment.

"Patients have a history of hypertension, preeclampsia, and fetal hospitals. After 24 hours of observation, we concluded that he needed treatment at the hospital because his blood pressure was unstable, had diarrhea, shortness of breath, and swelling in his legs," he explained.

Separately, the Head of the Makassar Class I Detention Center, Jayadikusumah stated, that all procedures carried out by the detention center were in accordance with applicable regulations and there was no special treatment for anyone who was undergoing the legal process or the criminal period.

"We will not give special treatment to anyone, especially for prisoners in cases that are currently viral (soroted). The detention center is only carrying out their duties in accordance with applicable regulations," Jayadi said.
