Prabowo Asks Not To Be Nominated Again In 2029 If The Program Doesn't Work

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party asked not to be nominated again in the 2029 Presidential Election if the program run by his government was unsuccessful.

"You asked me to be willing to be nominated again in 2029, I said, if my program is not successful, you don't need to continue to nominate me," Prabowo said in his remarks at the 17th Anniversary of the Gerindra Party in Sentul, West Java, Saturday.

Prabowo emphasized that his desire since childhood was to see Indonesia become a great country.

Prabowo assessed that if his government's program did not succeed and disappointed the people, he felt ashamed to run for president again in the 2029 presidential election.

"I, if I disappoint the people, I am ashamed to move forward again. From a young age, I just wanted to see a great Indonesia," said Prabowo.

The Head of State also denied that he was controlled by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who intervened or was "cheating", a term often mentioned by Jokowi.

Based on the information gathered, the Gerindra Party decided to support the General Chair and President Prabowo Subianto to return to running for president in 2029.

This was stated in the Extraordinary Gerindra Party Congress (KLB) which was held at Prabowo's residence in Hambalang, West Java, Thursday (13/2).

"The congress asked Pak Prabowo to be willing to run again as a presidential candidate in the 2029 presidential election. He replied, 'God willing,' but asked for time to complete his duties as president and fulfill his promises to the people," said Secretary General of the Gerindra Party DPP Ahmad Muzani when met in Hambalang.

Muzani said the decision was taken by representatives of all DPP, DPD and DPC Gerindra administrators throughout Indonesia who attended the KLB on Thursday (13/2).
