BANDUNG - The Bandung City Police (Polrestabes), West Java, has arrested a man who shot dead a stray cat in the Cibiru area, Bandung City, using an airsoft gun.
The head of the Panyileuk Police, Kompol Kurnia, said the incident took place on Saturday, February 8. The perpetrator with the initials SK has been arrested after the video of the cat shooting went viral on social media.
"After the video went viral, there was a group from the cat lover community who was furious and looked for the shooter and took him to be reported," said Kurnia in Bandung, Antara, Friday, February 14.
Kurnia explained that the motive of the perpetrator was to feel disturbed when he was having dinner.
"SK had tried to get rid of the cat. However, the cat even scratched the perpetrator, which irritated him. The perpetrator was emotional and then took the cat to the yard and was shot with an airsoft gun to death," he said.
He added that the perpetrator had recorded the action using a cellphone and then uploaded it to WhatsApp status. Meanwhile, the cat's body was brought to the area where he worked to be thrown into the water channel.
Furthermore, Kurnia said that after going viral on social media, one of the cat communities visited the Panyileukan Police Headquarters with the perpetrators on Thursday, February 13 which aims to report the perpetrator's actions to the authorities.
