Hasto Asks Regional Heads To Be Elected From PDIP To Support Prabowo's Policy On Budget Efficiency

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto asked the elected regional heads who were promoted by PDIP in the 2024 Pilkada to follow President Prabowo Subianto's orders to carry out budget efficiency.

According to Hasto, the policy of budget efficiency in the Prabowo era needs to be supported by a priority scale so that productive sectors for the people are put forward. Hasto believes Prabowo will prioritize the improvement of the people's economy in its policies.

This was revealed by Hasto on the sidelines of briefing 147 elected regional heads from PDIP who will be sworn in in in the future.

"Regarding the policy to rationalize the budget, it is a matter of efficiency, accountability, so that we provide support for the policy," said Hasto at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12.

Hasto emphasized that the nation's founders, in planning Indonesia for independence, did not focus on talking about the budget. Likewise when helping a number of countries in Asia and Africa to be independent.

The previous President of the Republic of Indonesia, continued Hasto, had also carried out budget efficiency, one of which was the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"Efficiency was also used to be rationalized when we faced a period of crisis, Mrs. Mega even the deficit policy was also relaxed during the crisis period, but then we took fiscal consolidation steps to encourage the people's economic movement," said Hasto.

Thus, Hasto asked the regional heads of PDIP to increase policy elaboration in the midst of budget efficiency so that the welfare of the community is maintained.

"So the narrative is that we taught that imagination. We built this party accompanied by an idea about democracy, ideas about people's sovereignty, about the voice of the undercurrent," said Hasto.

Hasto is optimistic that regional heads can carry out this. This is because the former Banyuwangi Regent, Abdullah Azwar Anas, succeeded in reducing the poverty rate from 20.4 percent to 8 percent, and continued until now to 6 percent in the midst of budget constraints.

"Banyuwangi is progressing because it is also in budget constraints. There it is actually challenging an innovation from us, but those who are productive sectors for the people must actually be developed in the budget allocation," he added.
