North Korean state media on Wednesday criticized US President Donald Trump's proposal to take over the Gaza Strip and relocate Palestinians as happenrs, accusing Washington of robbery.

Palestinians' thin hopes for safety and peace were destroyed by the proposal, according to comments published by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), without naming President Trump directly.

"The world is now boiling like a porridge pot over a surprising US declaration," KCNA said.

The comments were addressed to President Trump's surprise announcement, Uncle Sam's country intends to move Gaza's population and turn the war-torn territory into what the president calls the "Central East Riviera".

KCNA's comments also criticized the Trump Administration for its call to take over the Panama and Greenland Canal, and its decision to change the name "Mexico Bay" to "American Bay".

"The US must wake up from outdated jokes and immediately stop actions that violate the dignity and sovereignty of other countries and nations," the KCNA report said, calling the US a "ferocious robber."

It is known that President Trump held an unprecedented summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during his first term and has praised their personal relationship.

The US president recently said he would contact Kim again, although so far Pyongyang's state media have barely commented on Trump's second term of office, while continuing to attack what he sees as a serious security threat posed by Washington and its allies.

North Korea, which has frequently opposed Western views on international issues, has been outspoken about the situation in Gaza, blaming Israel for the bloodshed and calling the United States a "leg."
