Unifah Rosyidi Chairman Of PB PGRI Encourages Teacher Protection Bill For Stronger Professional Guarantee

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI), Prof. Dr. Unifah Rosyidi, M.Pd., emphasized the importance of legal protection for the teaching profession through the proposed Draft Law (RUU) on Teacher Professional Protection.

This was conveyed at the 2025 National Working Conference (Konkernas) which was attended by 1,200 PGRI administrators from all over Indonesia and opened by the mother of an Indonesian teacher, Siti Hediati (Mrs. Titiek Suharto).

Unifah Rosyidi stressed that protection of teachers must have a strong legal basis so that it can be applied effectively and bind to all parties.

"The protection of teachers is part of our efforts to maintain the munah of the teaching profession and place them as the honorable profession (official kiss nobile). Therefore, PGRI proposes the Teacher Professional Protection Bill so that it can become a strong legal shield and become the Lex Specialist of the Derogate Legi Generalis from the Teacher Law and Lecturers," said Unifah in her remarks at the opening of the 2025 PB PGRI Konkernas I at the Millennium Hotel, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Tuesday 11 February.

In addition to encouraging the Teacher Professional Protection Bill, National Conference I PB PGRI also discussed various strategic issues in the world of national education, including: Regarding the Evaluation of National Exams, PGRI considers that National Exams have an important role, but requires evaluation to further emphasize the development of student competencies as a whole.

Then about the Sisdiknas Bill. "PGRI emphasizes the need for clear regulations in the Sisdiknas Bill to maintain professional allowances for teachers, lecturers, and special allowances for teachers in remote areas," said Unifa.

Meanwhile, the issue of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, said univa, still needs improvement. "This curriculum is considered progressive, but requires support in the form of teacher training, infrastructure, and a sustainable evaluation," he said.

"Regarding the acceptance of New Students (PPDB), PGRI highlighted the importance of transparency and equal distribution of school quality in the implementation of PPDB," he said.

Regarding the Regulation on Education Commercialization, continued Unifa, PGRI reminded that education remains inclusive and not only benefits the private sector.

"We urge the need for simplification of Teacher Certification. PGRI encourages simpler certification procedures so that all teachers in positions can obtain certificates more easily," he said.

Konkernas I PB PGRI 2025 is a strategic event for the largest teacher organization in Indonesia to formulate concrete steps in improving the quality of education and the welfare of educators. "With the Teacher Professional Protection Bill, it is hoped that teachers can carry out their duties more safely and comfortably, without worrying about the legal threats that do not side with them," said Unifah Rosyidi.
