The Driver Of The Deadly Truck Accident At GT Ciawi Was Questioned By The Police

BOGOR - Bendi Wijaya, a truck driver carrying gallons of the cause of the accident that killed eight people at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate, Katulampa Village, Bogor City, West Java, underwent examination as a witness at the Bogor City Police Traffic Unit (Polresta) office.

"I have already conveyed it as a witness. As for the results of the investigation, we cannot convey it here, later when it is complete then we can convey it," said Head of Sub-Directorate for Law Enforcement of the West Java Police Traffic Directorate AKBP Lalu Wira as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 11.

Bendi Wijaya was present at the Bogor City Police Traffic Unit office accompanied by ambulance. With the condition of his head bandaged and his right leg injured, Bendi was carried by two police officers entering the examination room.

Initially, the Bogor City Police Traffic Unit scheduled an examination of Bendi Wijaya on Monday (10/2), but the hospital stated that at that time Bendi was not in good health for examination.

Director of the Ciawi Regional General Hospital (RSUD), dr. Fasia Meidiawaty, previously said that the truck driver Bendi Wijaya had a brain injury.

"So, currently the driver has a moderate head injury, in the term medicine there is a slight bleeding in the brain," said dr. Fasia.

In addition to having a brain injury, Bendi, a resident of Cicurug District, Sukabumi Regency, also suffered injuries to the eye so he had to receive treatment from an eye specialist and neuroscientist.

"If we look at the condition, we can't communicate yet, only when compared to yesterday's condition, it's a little better, we can start to open our eyes. Yesterday we really couldn't open our eyes," said dr. Fasia.

The truck driver was one of 11 survivors in an accident at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate on Tuesday (4/2) night.

Previously, the Bogor City Police Chief, Kombes Eko Prasetyo, explained that the accident incident at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate occurred on Tuesday night at around 23.30 WIB.

The accident that destroyed the toll gate building also involved six vehicles, three of which were damaged by fire and three other vehicles were heavily damaged.

At that time, a truck carrying gallons traveling from Ciawi to Jakarta was suspected of having failed brakes ahead of the Ciawi2 toll gate.

"It is suspected that the vehicle experienced a failed brake function (brake failure) and crashed into a series of vehicles that were carrying out transactions (e-tol payment). Three vehicles were destroyed, three other vehicles were damaged," said Eko.
