JAKARTA - The High Level Meeting of Artificial Intelligence Action (AIAS) which will take place in Paris, France on 10-11 February 2025 will be attended by the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi), Meutya Hafid representing President Prabowo Subianto.

"AIAS aims to encourage discussion and concrete steps related to AI development and governance at the global level. The Forum is also a continuation of the AI Safety Summit which was held in the UK in November 2023 and the AI Seoul Summit (AISS) in South Korea in May 2024," said the Minister of Communication and Industry, Meutya, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, February 8.

Meutya said that the opportunity to be involved in the global AI ecosystem will be more open if Indonesia has the right regulations in the development of this technology.

Collaboration between the government, industry, academics, and society is very important to create optimal policies in the use and development of AI.

"The proactive involvement of all stakeholders in AI regulations and development is very important, so that Indonesia can take advantage of the potential of AI technology which can provide maximum benefits for the community and related sectors," said the Minister of Communication and Industry.

As a first step, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has also initiated an AI Policy Dialogue that discusses its challenges and potential in various sectors such as e-commerce, banking, health, education, and sustainability.

Indonesia's projected e-commerce sector of 150 billion US dollars by 2030 must be ready to adopt AI to provide greater benefits for all parties.

With the right arrangements, the Minister of Trade believes that Indonesia will become a major player in the global AI technology ecosystem.

As a country that actively participates in international forums such as AIAS, Indonesia can ensure that the development of this technology goes hand in hand with the needs and challenges facing the world, including in terms of regulation and utilization.

French President Emmanuel Macron has sent an invitation to President Prabowo Subianto to attend directly at AIAS, which is a high-level meeting of Heads of State.

The conference is an international forum that brings together representatives of more than 100 countries, including heads of state, ministers, company CEOs, and leaders of international organizations.

In addition to attending AIAS, the Minister of Trade was also asked by UNESCO to present a methodology of assessment of readiness or "readiness assessment method" at a side event which will be held on February 10, 2025.

The AIAS series of events began on February 6, 2025, with a gathering of participants at Elysee Palace and a High Level Segment event at Grand Palais.

For several days, various discussions and events will be held, including Science Day on February 6-7, Cultural Weekend on February 8-9, as well as Discussion on Round Tables and State Heads on February 10.

The highlight of the event will continue with the Leaders' Plenary and Closing on February 11.
