BOGOR - Bogor City Government (Pemkot) through the Health Office (Dinkes) carried out Active Case Findings (ACF) Tuberculosis (TBC) at 20 locations in Bogor City, with the implementation on February 1 to 12, 2025.
Based on data as of January 31, 2025, 9,947 TB cases (119%) were found in Bogor City.
This number is still high, which has not been accompanied by the high number of TB examinations in household contacts or close contacts of TB patients.
The implementation of the ACF is supported by regional and cross-sectoral devices that play a role in supporting and mobilizing participants to take part in the TB screening, while maintaining security and order during the activity.
"This TBC is not only today, but it has become an extraordinary stigma. For that, a maximum role is needed from the government," said Acting Mayor of Bogor, Hanafi, when opening the first day of ACF at the Pajajaran Sports Center, Tanah Sareal, Saturday, February 1 morning.
Hanafi continued, eliminating TB is one of the priorities for handling government health because the number of cases is still high. However, this effort requires collaboration from various parties.
"It must be done together across sectors. We must actively pick up the ball, because the stigma of the community against TB has not disappeared," said Hanafi.
Head of the Bogor City Health Office, Sri Nowo Retno, added that TB is the second most deadly infectious disease in the world.
"In fact, West Java is in first place in finding the highest TB cases in Indonesia. The 2030 TB Elimination program aims to increase the public's concern for TB," explained Retno.
The screenings carried out include TB symptoms, their impact on quality of life, and how to prevent and treat TB in order to reduce the potential for disease transmission to people around them through the TOSS TB movement, namely Forfeeding, Treating, Until Healing.
"It is important for the public to be aware of tuberculosis, one of which is by checking with health service facilities if TB symptoms appear," said Retno.
In addition, both the public and health workers can actively find and report someone with TB symptoms for examination and contact investigation.
President Prabowo Subianto's Fastest Results Program (Quick Win) in the health sector includes health screening, hospital construction in the regions, and TB handling.
In an effort to achieve the purpose of handling TB, the Indonesian Ministry of Health implemented the TB prevention policy as stated in the 2020-2024 National Strategy.
One of the strategies is to actively combine TB discovery and treatment efforts with prevention efforts through the provision of Tuberculosis Prevention Therapy (TPT) in cases of latent TB infection (ILTB), explained Retno.
The discovery of TB cases is actively carried out by systematic screening of risky populations, namely home contact, close contact, ODHIV, people with diabetes mellitus, people with malnutrition, smokers, and close contact with people withqu.
In addition, the discovery of TB cases is actively aimed at finding suspected TB in risky populations, detecting TB early in order to reduce diagnosis delays, suppress transmission by reducing the source of infection, and finding ILTB cases so that TPT can be given.
"With this ACF TB activity, it is hoped that it can increase the discovery of suspected TB and cases, increase screening and provide TPT to risk groups, and reduce the transmission chain of TB in Bogor City," said Retno.
