JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that rainy weather with various intensities has the potential to occur in most cities in Indonesia on Thursday, February 6.

BMKG forecaster Nurul Izzah Fitria said that cloudy and thick cloudy weather is predicted for people in Banda Aceh, Padang, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang and Jambi and hazy air in the Palembang area.

Meanwhile, she said, light rain has the potential to fall in Medan, Bengkulu and Pangkal Pinang, and there is a possibility of rain accompanied by lightning in Bandar Lampung.

"On the island of Java, in the cities of Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Yogyakarta, the weather in general still has the potential for rain with light intensity. Meanwhile, for those in Serang and Surabaya, you need to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning," she said.

In the same period, she said, in the Bali and Nusa Tenggara regions, the potential for light rain is also predicted by BMKG to be experienced by those in the Denpasar and Kupang areas. For the Mataram region, there is potential for thick cloudy weather.

In Kalimantan, all provincial capitals are predicted to experience rain. With BMKG warning of the potential for light rain in Pontianak, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, and Tanjung Selor and the possibility of rain accompanied by lightning in Samarinda.

BMKG also predicts the potential for rain in the Sulawesi region. Including light rain in Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, and Kendari and moderate rain in the Mamuju and Makassar areas.

Izzah said that for the eastern region of Indonesia, rain is predicted to occur in all major cities. Light rain can fall in the areas of Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, and Jayapura.

BMKG also predicts moderate rain in Nabire and Jayawijaya and the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the Merauke area.
