Dozens Of Houses In Kalianget Situbondo Flooded

SITUBONDO - Dozens of houses in Kalianget Village, Banyuglugur District, Situbondo, East Java, were flooded with river water and water levels reaching more than 1 meter.

The flood came from the Lubawang River which overflowed into residential areas because it was unable to accommodate the water discharge after heavy rains flushed the western region of Situbondo since the afternoon.

"This flood comes from the overflow of the Lubawang River and is about 500 meters from the settlement," said one of the flood-affected people in Karangmalang Hamlet, Kalianget Village, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 5. The water level has now almost reached 1 meter and the river overflow is very heavy entering residential areas.

Some residents have started to evacuate for fear that the water will continue to increase.

"Many residents affected by the flood of river water have fled to the Nurut Taufiq Mosque which is on the east of the bridge," said Ali Said.

Apart from the Lubawang River, the flood also came from an overflow of rivers in the south of the northern coastal route that crossed the north of the northern coastal route and added to the water discharge that entered people's homes.

The flood overflowed into the Pantura highway in Karangmalang Hamlet, Kalianget Village, Banyuglugur District, which disrupted the traffic flow and the open-close system was implemented because the north side of the northern side of the northern coast was flooded.
