Ahead Of Pretrial Against The KPK, The Legal Team Believes That The Determination Of Suspect Hasto Is Based On Non-Hukum Reasons

JAKARTA - The legal team of the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto is ready to attend the pretrial hearing regarding the determination of the suspect status by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Wednesday, February 5. They are ready to prove and argue before a judge at the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

"We are ready to submit evidence and arguments regarding the status of suspect Mas Hasto, who in our opinion does not have a strong legal basis, is unfair, and looks more based on non-law reasons," said PDIP DPP Chairman for Legal Reform Ronny B. Talapessy to reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, February 5.

Ronny said that so far the name Hasto had never appeared in the trial of the bribery case for the management of interim replacement (PAW). It is known, former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan; former Bawaslu member Agustiani Tio Fridelina; and Saeful Bahri as a PDIP cadre has been tried and found guilty.

Meanwhile, one other person, Harun Masiku, is still being sought after his whereabouts, aka fugitive. This bribe was revealed after the anti-corruption commission held a hand arrest operation (OTT) in 2020.

"We already know that this case has been tried, has been signed and there is no evidence related to Mas Hasto. So, as a state of law, law enforcement officers, in this case the KPK must respect and comply with court decisions," he said.

"We hope that this trial can test the investigator's decision by taking into account all existing legal processes and facts," continued the lawyer.

As previously reported, Judge Djumyanto decided to postpone the first trial of the pretrial lawsuit filed by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto. This decision was taken because the KPK as the respondent was not present at the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

The next trial will be held on February 5. Djumyanto said the decision was knocked out because there was a long holiday at the end of January.

Hasto did not accept being named a suspect so he filed a pretrial. He was entangled in the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives together with Donny Tri Istiqomah, who is a lawyer and PDIP cadre.

In addition, Hasto was also named a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of obstructing the KPK's move to arrest Harun Masiku in the 2020 hand arrest operation (OTT).
