JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission XIII DPR Willy Aditya believes that the extradition of fugitives in the corruption case of the electronic identity card procurement project (KTP-el) Paulus Tannos alias Thian Po Tjhin will be resolved even though Tannos has a passport from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
This, he said, was due to the close diplomatic relationship between Indonesia and Singapore.
"As stated by the Minister of Law (Supratman Andi Agtas), regarding Paulus' citizenship and which is said to be a diplomatic visa from the Guinea-Bissau state, I think Indonesia's diplomatic relations with Singapore will be easily resolved," Willy said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 30.
In providing extradition, he assessed that Singapore would consider Indonesia as having a much longer and closer relationship.
"Of course Singapore also does not want diplomatic immunity to be used to protect against the crimes that occur in its country," he said.
Willy is optimistic that the Indonesian Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) will successfully repatriate Tannos to the country to serve a sentence for his corruption.
"I am very optimistic about the performance of the Ministry of Law and its staff to be able to bring Paulus Tannos back and undergo his legal process in Indonesia," he said.
He also believes that the relevant ministries/agencies will soon be able to complete the process to complete the administrative documents for submitting the Tannos extradition to the Singapore government.
"The collaboration between the KPK, the Ministry of Law, and other legal apparatus, I believe that I can immediately complete the necessary documents. If we see how the Minister of Law and Human Rights visits various ministries, I don't think this collaboration will be difficult," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas believed that Indonesia's extradition application against fugitives in the corruption case of the Paulus Tannos e-KTP procurement project went smoothly even though Tannos had a passport from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
There is news that Guinea-Bissau is also applying for Tannos extradition to Singapore. However, Supratman is optimistic that Indonesia's request will be fulfilled by the Singaporean government, especially because Tannos has committed a criminal act in Indonesia and is still an Indonesian citizen (WNI).
"The Singapore government has been very cooperative with the request made by friends of the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) so that those concerned have now been detained," said Supratman.
However, when asked about the acceleration of the extradition process so that it would not be preceded by the Guinea-Bissau government, he admitted that this was a technical step in applying for extradition, which is under the authority of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Law and Human Rights is still completing documents for submitting the extradition of Paulus Tannos from Singapore. Documents needed for Tannos extradition are submitted to the Singapore government no later than March 3, 2025.
