JAKARTA - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) stated that it is waiting for further directions from several parties such as the government and the DPR regarding opportunities for universities to manage mining.
"The Ministry (Kemendiktisaintek) has not been involved or we are in a waiting position, yes," said Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Ministry of Education and Technology Togar M Simatupang as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 23.
This, he said, was one of the discussion points in the DPR Commission X meeting with the Ministry of Education and Technology which was also attended by the Minister of Education and Technology, Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro.
Togar said that the Ministry of Education and Technology will follow policies regarding opportunities for universities to manage mining if it has really been determined by the relevant parties.
"We are ready to participate because this is one of the policies in higher education, especially those close to funding," he said.
The meeting between Commission X of the DPR and the Ministry of Education and Technology lasted about three hours.
Togar said that the meeting also explained the aspirations of the community and universities regarding the discourse of universities in managing mines. Then, other matters were also discussed, such as the budget and program of the Ministry of Education and Technology as well as the issue of providing performance allowances (tukin) for lecturers which were delayed by about five years.
