JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission IV of the House of Representatives, Siti Hediati Hariyadi or Titiek Soeharto, has demanded the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) to continue to investigate who owns and parties are guarding the 30-kilometer sea in Tangerang waters.

Titiek emphasized this after a working meeting with KKP Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Thursday, January 23.

"This is in the ocean that cannot be fenced, converted by anyone. We ask the KKP to reveal this to the public because people are waiting," said Titiek.

Titiek also asked the parties involved in sea fencing to be responsible for replacing the costs of taking action or removing the fence.

"In addition, yesterday there was a revocation of the fence which deployed many officers to remove the 30 km, of course there was a large cost incurred. We ask whoever violates this law to ask for the money that has been incurred," he said.

The Gerindra legislator for the electoral district in Yogyakarta emphasized that members of the DPR must be proactive in fighting for the interests of each constituent. He warned the KKP to anticipate that sea fencing would not happen again in the future.

"So even so, we have agreed that we are satisfied that the KKP has done its job. But we want to anticipate it again in the future, don't let it happen again," said Titiek.

"Because we also get a lot in other areas of cases like this, hopefully, don't wait for it to go viral first, then action will be taken, but anticipated, maybe from now on learning from cases that can be maintained again, which ones are problematic," he continued.

Titiek reminded the Minister of KKP to immediately reveal the mastermind behind the sea fencing in Tangerang waters. He considered that the KKP must immediately coordinate with the relevant ministries.

"If you find out who is behind this? I want to hurry up, I also ask for it as soon as possible, but from the ministry because this is related to other ministries or institutions, so we will give the Minister time. Hopefully it can be revealed who is behind all this," concluded the Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees.
