Action During Friday Prayers, The Perpetrators Of Theft In Depok Were Arrested Thanks To CCTV Footage

Depok Metro Police Satreskrim managed to uncover dozens of cases of motor vehicle theft (curanmor) in various areas of Depok City. This disclosure began with tracing evidence in the form of CCTV footage found at the scene.

In the last three months, the police have uncovered eleven case reports, arrested 10 perpetrators, nine stolen motorbikes, as well as various vehicle documents and letter T keys.

One of the cases that was successfully uncovered was the theft of a motorcycle at a mosque in Pondok Cina, Beji, Depok City. In the CCTV footage, it can be seen that the four perpetrators used two motorbikes in action while the victim was performing Friday prayers.

Head of the Depok Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP DK Zendrato, explained that the theft gang had acted in seven different locations. The police managed to confiscate one stolen motorbike, while the other motorbikes had been sold by the perpetrators.

They pretended to go to the mosque when the atmosphere was quiet and people were worshiping, then did the theft using the letter T key, "explained Zendrato, last Wednesday.

Of the nine motorbikes that were confiscated, two of them have been returned to their owner, Dewi. Dewi expressed her happiness, after her two motorbikes, Yamaha Jupiter MX and Honda Vario 160, which were stolen simultaneously, were finally able to return thanks to the police's hard efforts.

"I reported according to the procedure, and thank God my report was responded well. Police services are very satisfying. Thank you very much, my motorbike can return both," said Dewi.

Currently, the police are still hunting for a number of other perpetrators, including those who act as collectors. The ten perpetrators who have been arrested are charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a threat of up to 5 years in prison.
