Tahfidz Al-Fatih Leader Gowa South Sulawesi Suspect Of Sexual Abuse Of Santriwati Detained By Police

Gowa Resort Police (Polres) investigators have detained the leader of the Tahfidz Al-Fatih Al-Quran Foundation named Feri Syarwan (28) on suspicion of committing a criminal act of sexual abuse accompanied by sexual intercourse with underage female students, at the tahfid house, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi.

"Initially this happened around June 2024, at 07.00 WITA. The modus operandi was that the perpetrator forced the victim to have sex like a husband and wife. The motive was to fulfill or satisfy the lust of the perpetrator," said Gowa Police Chief AKBP Reonald TS Simanjuntak as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 22.

The police chief said the perpetrator was a teacher from the tahfidz house. That morning, the perpetrator called the victim into the santri's room. After being in the room, the perpetrator immediately hugged and held the victim from behind, and the victim fought back.

However, the perpetrator held both hands of the victim so that the victim was helpless. This makes the perpetrators free to do their actions, and dare to have sex with the victim who is still a minor or is still 14 years old.

"The perpetrator also threatened the victim by saying don't ask (notify) my parents, if you ask (tell), I will treat you. For this incident, the victim's parents reported the incident to the Gowa Police PPA unit. We have secured the perpetrators," he told reporters.

The police chief said the perpetrators had carried out the action to several female students.

"Currently, three victims have been identified and maybe there are still developments in the next victims, we are still investigating. All of the victims are minors," he told reporters.

Reonald said that the three victims of female students were students who should have been well educated, but instead did an inappropriate act by a teacher.

The arrest of the perpetrator was made last week at the tahfidz house. The perpetrator has been detained for a week at the Gowa Police.

Regarding the information circulating that the victims were sexually assaulted alternately, even together with the perpetrator's wife, Reonald emphasized that this was still being investigated.

The suspect is suspected of Article 81 in conjunction with Article 76 letter d of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Stipulation of Perppu Number 1 of 2016 Second Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and Article 6 of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence.

"The threat of imprisonment is a maximum of 15 years," said Reonald.
