JAYAPURA - Personnel from the Puncak Jaya Resort Police (Polres) Brigpol Ronald M. Enok died because he was shot by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Bumiwalo Talenggen, in Mulia, the capital of Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua.

Head of Operations for the Cartenz Peace Task Force Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani said the victim died after being shot while in Kampung Lima-Lima, Pagaleme District, after previously buying kerosene.

"It is true from the reports received revealed that the victim was shot shortly after buying kerosene," said Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 21.

Brigadier General Faizal, who is also the Deputy Chief of the Papua Regional Police for Puncak Jaya Regency, said that from the reports received, the victim died at the location, shortly after being shot.

Currently, the body of Brigpol Ronald M. Enok has been evacuated to Jayapura and will be buried in his hometown in Jayapura Regency.

"Currently an investigation is being carried out to reveal the motive behind the shooting that killed the victim," said Brigadier General Faizal.

Earlier on Friday (17/1), the KKB led by Askel Mabel shot Brigadier Iqbal Anwar Arif while with his entourage on patrol in Yalimo Regency, Papua Mountains.
