Glodok Plaza Burns, Commercial Building Fire Safety Standards Called Not Administrative

This was in response to the fire incident at the Glodok Plaza building on Wednesday, January 15. This fire resulted in at least 8 deaths.

"This situation shows that there is a potential for a lack of adequate fire safety standards in the building," Alia said in her statement, Tuesday, January 21.

Thus, Alia urged the DKI Provincial Government to further tighten the application of standard operating procedures (SOP) for fire mitigation in private buildings.

"At the same time this incident is a reminder that fire prevention measures in commercial buildings must be tightened," said Alia.

On the one hand, Alia said the increase in efficiency in fire emergency responses, especially by utilizing modern technology, had gone through discussions at Commission A.

"This technology (modern) is like an early detection system and the integration of hydrants in commercial buildings," he explained.

It is known that the fire at Glodok Plaza occurred on Wednesday, January 15 at around 21.33 WIB. The officers finally succeeded in the cooling process on Thursday, January 16 evening, and the fire was completely extinguished on Friday, January 17 evening.

The DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service deployed dozens of fire engines at the mall located on Jalan Pinangsia Raya, Mangga Besar Village, Tamansari District. The blackout was also carried out with a skylift bronto unit.

Kepala Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) DKI Jakarta Isnawa Adji mengungkap perkiraan kerugian material akibat kebakaran yang terjadi di Glodok Plaza, Tamansari, Jakarta Barat mencapai sekitar Rp90 miliar.

"Dari objek terdampak Mal Glodok Plaza lantai 7, 8, dan 9, estimasi kerugian Rp90.900.000.000," ungkap Isnawa dalam keterangannya.

Meanwhile, the alleged cause of the Glodok Plaza fire is still under investigation by the police. A total of 14 people were reported missing in the fire, based on information from the families and colleagues of the victims who reported to the Poskotis. The forensic medical team of the Polda Metro Jaya is still carrying out the identification process related to the victim's body.
