BBMKG: Beware Of The Potential For Strong Winds 25 Knots In Bali Waters

JAKARTA - The Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar asked the public to be aware of the potential for strong winds with a maximum speed of 25 knots or about 46 kilometers per hour in Bali waters which is estimated to be on January 18-21, 2025.

"Be aware of the potential for moderate to heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds of short duration," said Head of BBMKG Region III, Cahyo Nugroho, in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Based on the Denpasar BBMKG forecast, the potential wind speed reaches 25 knots on January 18, 2025, with the opportunity to occur in the southern waters of Bali-NTB.

The wind is expected to blow from the southwest-northwest.

On January 19-21, 2025, the wind speed is estimated to reach 25 knots in the Bali Sea or the waters north of Bali which borders the Buleleng Regency, then in the Sumbawa Sea, and the southern waters of Bali-NTB.

From the synoptic condition, Denpasar BBMKG predicts the dominant wind will blow from the southwest-northwest at a maximum speed of 35 knots or 64 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, the sea wave height on January 19-21 is estimated to reach 2.5 meters in the Bali Sea, southern Bali Strait, Badung Strait, and southern Lombok Strait.

Meanwhile, the southern waters of Bali are estimated to have a sea wave height of up to 4 meters or a high category.

His party noted that wind conditions and sea waves were at risk for shipping safety. Fishermen's boat users are asked to be aware of wind speeds of more than 15 knots and wave heights above 1.25 meters.

Then, barge operators are advised to be vigilant when the wind is more than 16 knots and the wave height is above 1.5 meters.

Ferry operators are also asked to be aware of wind speeds of more than 21 knots and wave heights above 2.5 meters.
