Hasto Has Not Been Detained, KPK Says Many Witnesses Will Be Summoned

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not confirmed the time for the detention of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, who was caught in the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the obstruction of the investigation. A number of witnesses are planned to be summoned in the near future.

"There are still many witnesses who need to be questioned by investigators and that is still in progress," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters quoted on Saturday, January 18.

Tessa did not specify the witness who would be summoned. He only ensured that investigators did not only need information from several people, such as PDIP cadre Saeful Bahri and member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PDIP faction, Maria Lestari.

Moreover, the time of detention will be determined by investigators. "Yes, the first witness is not only SB and ML's sister," he said.

"Again, when will HK's brother be summoned and detained, it will be the investigator's authority," continued Tessa.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

It didn't stop there, Hasto was also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.
