JAKARTA - Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim held a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and stated that Malaysia was willing to accept more investors as well as build new economic synergies.
Anwar, who was traveling to Europe, said the meeting was in order to strengthen relations between the two countries covering various fields.
According to Anwar, the two parties agreed to further strengthen strategic cooperation in the fields of education, economy, defense, energy and artificial intelligence (AI) and discuss solutions to Gaza's problems.
Reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 15, Anwar said the results of the discussion at the meeting would then debate to the ministerial level of each country so that its implementation would be more orderly and organized.
The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) in a press statement said PM Anwar's work visit at the invitation of Starmer in England was carried out from 14 canoes with 19 January 2025, and his first visit to the country after becoming PM of Malaysia in November 2022.
The two leaders of the country, according to Wisma Putra, are progressing bilateral relations between Malaysia and the UK, as well as discussing efforts to strengthen cooperation, including in the fields of trade and investment, higher education, climate change and new renewable energy, agrikomodity and tourism.
Wisma Putra also mentioned that the two also discussed regional and international issues that are of common interest, as well as exchanging views on ASEAN-England Dialogue Relations.
As Chair of ASEAN 2025, Anwar Ibrahim will prioritize Malaysia and ASEAN's efforts to overcome regional and global challenges.
