JAKARTA - The Full Bachelor Scholarship Program continues to have a real impact on the people of Cilegon City. One of the beneficiaries of this program is Syifa El-Fatih, a student at Bina Bangsa University (Uniba) who just completed her study at the end of last year.
"I see that there are still many young Cilegon generations who have big dreams of continuing their education to college, but are hindered by limited costs. This extraordinary program, such as full-graduate scholarships, must be continued, so that more and more young Cilegon children have the opportunity to achieve their dreams," said Syifa, quoted Wednesday, January 15.
The Full Bachelors Scholarship Program is one of the campaign promises of the Mayor of Helldy Agustian which has been successfully realized since 2021. Until 2024, as many as 2,956 residents from 45 urban villages have benefited from this program.
The recipients continue their education to various universities, ranging from state universities throughout Indonesia, private universities in Banten Province, to international universities in Egypt and Yemen.
Access To Education Expands, Scholarship Recipients Continue To Increase
The Cilegon City Government's commitment to expand access to education can be seen from the increase in the number of scholarship recipients every year. In 2021, 532 students started studies at four universities, namely Al Khairiyah University, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanudin Banten, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, and STIKOm Insan Unggul.
In the following year, the number of scholarship recipients jumped to 1,208 students spread across 46 universities in Indonesia. Of these, 1,010 students were accepted through the cooperation route with 13 universities in Banten, while the other 198 continued their studies at various universities through independent channels.
The Mayor of Helldy Agustian emphasized that the Cilegon City Government has allocated Rp120 billion in funds to support this program during the 2021-2024 period. With the target of covering up to 5,000 students, this program provides education assistance of Rp3 million per semester for each scholarship recipient.
Building A Superior And Competitive Generation
Apart from Syifa El-Fatih, Syauqi Risyad Yusuf, Gadjah Mada University students, and Dwina Asmirandah, Diponegoro University students, also expressed their appreciation for this program.
"I feel very helped because my parents have mediocre income. The existence of the GPA requirement of at least 3 also motivates me to continue learning," said Syauqi, a student from Lebak Gede Village, Pulomerak District.
Dwina Asmirandah shared the story that she knew about this program through the Cilegon City Dindikbud Instagram page.
"This student really helps ease the burden on my parents, especially since the scholarships are full to undergraduate," he said.
Support For Private School Students
The commitment of the Mayor of Helldy Agustian in supporting education also touched madrasah students and private schools in Cilegon City. In the last three years, 1,674 pre-health students from the elementary and junior high school levels have received scholarship assistance with a total budget of Rp1.47 billion.
This scholarship includes:
Sederajat Elementary School: IDR 538.9 million for MDTA, MI, and private elementary school students. SAME SMP: IDR 939.6 million for students of MTs, private junior high schools, and SMPLB/SKH.
With this assistance, the Cilegon City Government hopes to ease the burden on underprivileged family education and open up greater opportunities for Cilegon City children to achieve better education.
"Education is a long-term investment that will provide great benefits for the people of Cilegon City. With this program, we want to ensure that there are no more young people who have to stop pursuing their dreams just because of limited costs," Helldy said with full confidence.
