JAKARTA - Candidate Pair for Governor and Deputy Governor of North Sulawesi Number 2 of Elly Engelbert Lasut and Hanny Joost Pajouw withdrew the lawsuit for the North Sulawesi Regional Head Election dispute (Pilkada) at the Constitutional Court.

The revocation was conveyed through Elly Lasut-Hanny Pajouw's attorney, Denny Indrayana, during the preliminary examination of case Number 261/PHPU.GUB-XXIII/2025 on panel 1 at the I MK building, Jakarta, Monday, January 13.

"We, the attorney from the candidate for governor of case 261, have submitted a letter on December 13, 2024 with the receipt of an entry letter in the ministry, which in essence in the letter stated that we submitted the withdrawal of the request for this case," said Denny Indrayana as quoted by ANTARA.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo as chairman of the panel 1 session said that the MK clerk had indeed received a letter of withdrawal of the application for the case of Elly Lasut-Hanny Pajouw. Even so, the applicant's legal team still needs to attend the inaugural trial to make sure.

"Therefore, we accept that we will report the revocation later at the panel of judges regarding this revocation," said Suhartoyo.

Based on the application file, Elly Lasut-Hanny Pajouw initially asked the Constitutional Court to disqualify candidate pair number 1 Yulius Selvanus and Johannes Victor Mailangkay, as well as formulate the North Sulawesi KPU's decision as long as Yulius-Johannes votes were obtained.

The North Sulawesi KPU previously named Yulius-Johannes as the pair of candidates who won the most votes, namely 539,039. Meanwhile, Elly Lasut-Hanny Pajouw received 463,433 votes and candidate pair number 3 Steven Kandouw and Alfret Tuejeh received 459,673 votes.

However, Elly Lasut-Hanny Pajouw argued that Yulius-Johannes' votes were obtained in ways that violated election principles. The reason is, Yulius is referred to as a former convict in the 1998 activist kidnapping case, but did not publicly announce his legal status.

In fact, according to Elly Lasut-Hanny Pajouw, Article 11 of KPU Regulation Number 8 of 2024 stipulates that former convicts who run for regional heads are obliged to notify the public of their status as former convicts.

In addition, Elly Lasut-Hanny Pajouw also argued money politics, intimidation of residents and village heads, as well as the neutrality of the apparatus, ASN, and village heads by the Yulius-Johannes pair.
