Police Shoot The Feet Of The Thief In Kelapa Gading For Fighting Officers

JAKARTA - Police officers were forced to shoot two motorcycle theft perpetrators with the initials AS (32) and BG (29) who carried out their actions in two locations in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, for resisting.

"We were forced to take measured action because these two perpetrators fought back against officers when they were arrested," said Kelapa Gading Police Chief Kompol Seto Handoko Putra, Monday, January 13, 2025.

He said the two perpetrators were a gang of thefts that often acted in a number of areas both in Kelapa Gading and outside the local area.

"We have just arrested two perpetrators and there are still three perpetrators who are still being chased," he said.

Kompol Seto said the perpetrators carried out their crimes at two locations, namely Jalan Kelapa Nias Pegangsaan Dua, Kelapa Gading and in front of Cafe Roti Geboy, Kelapa Gading Barat, North Jakarta, at (8/12) around 06.15 WIB and 07.30 WIB.

"These perpetrators carried out their actions in the morning because the situation was considered safe and not crowded," he said.

He said the perpetrator with the initials AS played a role in taking goods while the perpetrators of BG played a role in supervising the surroundings armed with an air softgun.

"The perpetrator's action was caught on CCTV cameras and we started an investigation after two police reports," he said.

He said the modus operandi of the perpetrators was to damage the victim's motorbike, pull the contact cable, then install an artificial socket on the motorcycle contact line which causes the motor engine to turn on, then damage the handlebar, then take it away.

"Two motorbikes belonging to the victim, namely Honda Beat B 3840 EVU and Beat Deluxe B 4260 UDK. Meanwhile, the motorbikes sold from stolen goods were IDR 3,500,000. The money was divided equally," he said.

The two suspects who were arrested on Wednesday, January 8 at two locations and the police confiscated several pieces of evidence in the form of air softgun weapons and sewer bullets, six ignition keys, a flash drive containing CCTV video footage, six number plates.

The suspects are subject to Article 363 paragraph (1) 4 and 5 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) with a maximum imprisonment of seven years.
