Become A Drug Courier, 19-Year-Old Man Arrested By Serang Police

The man with the initials MS (19 years old) who was a drug courier was arrested by the Serang Police in an empty house in the Pamong Village area, Ciruas District, Serang Regency.

"We arrested him in an empty house not far from his house after consuming methamphetamine," said Head of the Serang Police Narcotics Unit, AKP Bondan Rahadiansyah, in Serang, as quoted by ANTARA.

He explained earlier that the Opsnal Team led by Ipda Ricky Handani received information from the public that the suspect MS was suspected of distributing drugs.

"Initially there was information from the public who suspected that the suspect MS was a drug dealer," he said.

After getting the characteristics of the perpetrator, the Opsnal Team then moved to conduct an investigation at the reported location. At around 16.30 WIB, the suspect MS, who was suspected of being a drug dealer, was arrested in an empty house after consuming methamphetamine.

During the search, a package of methamphetamine was found from the front pants pocket. The officers also secured the cellphone because it was suspected of being used as a transaction tool," he said.

From the results of the examination, the suspect MS admitted to being a drug courier in order to get wages. In addition to circulating, the suspect can also consume crystal methamphetamine for free.

"The motive is because of the economy, the suspect who works odd jobs admitted that he was forced to become a meth courier because he got the wages used for daily needs," he explained.

Bondan said the suspect MS received methamphetamine supplies from a dealer with the initials TY (DPO) who is currently still being chased by the Narcotics Satres Team.

"This drug trafficking case is still being developed and hopes that its suppliers can be arrested as soon as possible," he said.

For his actions, suspect MS was charged with Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with a minimum penalty of six years in prison and a maximum sentence of death.
