JAKARTA - On Saturday, 20 units of the first Completely Knocked Down (CKD) electric bus from PT VKTR Mobility Technology Tbk (VKTR) with TKDN above 40 percent for TransJakarta were officially operational.

The buses are recorded to have started serving the corridors of 10 Tanjung Priok-PGC routes and corridors 14 for the Jakarta International Stadium-Senen route which marks an important step towards the era of sustainable public transportation electrification in Indonesia.

"The production of CKD electric buses with high TKDN is clear evidence of our dedication in supporting the independence of the national automotive industry. VKTR is committed to continuing to present innovative solutions that support the government's sustainability agenda," said VKTR President Director Gilarsi W. Setijono, quoting ANTARA, Saturday, January 11.

Gilarsi explained, as a company that prioritizes innovation and sustainability, VKTR has built an integrated electric transportation ecosystem. With the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) above 40 percent, this electric bus shows VKTR's commitment to strengthening local industries while creating positive environmental impacts.

This is also in line with government policies related to the procurement of goods and services that prioritize products with domestic content.

Not only presenting superior products, VKTR also leads the development of local assembly facilities with the construction of a new factory in Magelang which is scheduled to be completed in January 2025.

This factory is designed to accelerate production capacity, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen Indonesia's position as a regional electric vehicle production center.

He explained that this electric bus is the result of a collaboration between VKTR and PT Laksana Bus Manufacturing, the leader of the Karoseri industry in Indonesia. This partnership ensures that each bus unit meets international standards, while still prioritizing the use of quality local components.

"The synergy between VKTR and our strategic partners is the main basis in presenting products that are not only innovative but also support the independence of the domestic industry," said Gilarsi.

This electric bus operation, according to him, has a significant impact, both in terms of reducing carbon emissions and operational efficiency.

As part of the support for TransJakarta's target to completely switch to electric vehicles by 2030, VKTR continues to play a key role in accelerating the transformation of public transportation in Indonesia.

"Public transportation electrification is the future. VKTR is committed to being at the forefront of this change, introducing reliable technology, and encouraging cross-sector collaboration to create a greener future of transportation," said Gilarsi.

VKTR is the pioneer of the electrification of the commercial vehicle segment in Indonesia. VKTR officially listed shares (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange on June 19, 2023, becoming the first commercial electric vehicle issuer in Indonesia.
