Landslides In Bener Meriah Aceh, 2 People Died

The Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) said two people were reported to have died as a result of a landslide that occurred in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, which was triggered by high-intensity rainfall.

"Two victims in Uning Bertih Village who died have been found," said BPBA Chief Executive Teuku Nara Setia as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 10.

He explained that the flood accompanied by landslides occurred in Bener Meriah on Thursday (9/1) around 16.30 WIB. The affected areas include Pante Raya Barat Village and Uning Bertih in Wih Pesam District.

Furthermore, Burni Pase Village and Genting Gajah in Permata District and Bukit Tunyang Village in Timang Gajah District.

"Rain with high intensity in recent days that has flushed Bener Meriah Regency has resulted in flash floods and landslides," he said.

The two fatalities were found on Friday (10/1) afternoon. The victim is on behalf of Fajri (18) Pereulak address and Hanif(46) address Wih Pesam," he said.

According to him, another impact of the incident included a moderately damaged house unit in Wih Pesam District, two units of kiosks selling fruit were heavily damaged and one house unit was slightly damaged in First District.

Then a bridge unit connecting Tunyang Village to Cekal Village and a lightly damaged house in Timang Gajah District.

"The victims of landslides were lightly injured on behalf of Sofian Supri (13) and Aisyah (23)," he said.

BPBD Bener Meriah together with the rapid reaction team and Pusdalops have visited the scene to clean up landslide material and search for victims who died.

The location of the landslide that caused the two fatalities was far from residential areas and road access could not be passed by four-wheeled vehicles.

"The last condition in Pante Raya Barat Village has been handled and cleaned up in areas where floods and landslides have been carried out," he said.
