While Sobbing In Tears At PDIP's 52nd Anniversary, Megawati Thanked The MPR For Clearing Bung Karno's History

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri delivered her political speech in the celebration of her 52nd Anniversary (HUT) at the Party School, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Friday, January 10.

At the opening of her speech, Megawati expressed her gratitude to the MPR RI for the 2019-2024 period which officially revoked the MPR Decree (TAP) Number 33 of 1967 concerning the Revocation of State Power from President Soekarno.

With the repeal of the TAP MPR, the accusation that Bung Karno had betrayed the state and supported the rebellion by the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) was not proven.

"On behalf of the Bung Karno family and also the PDIP extended family, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the leadership and all MPR RI for the 2019-2024 period. We know that the MPR stands for the People's Consultative Assembly, so it is the incarnation of all Indonesian people, because that is also my sincere gratitude to all Indonesian people wherever you are based on the history of Bung Karno," Megawati said while sobbing at the opening of her political speech.

Megawati also expressed her gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto for responding to the letter from the leadership of the MPR RI regarding the follow-up to the restoration of Bung Karno's good name as the first President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"If you think that Bung Karno was holding back, yo iyo when he was, our family was confused, I had to tell him, I went to the station to ask my father what exactly was he doing, after all, the president suddenly was detained, he was detained, he didn't know at the Bogor palace, no one dared to answer. So we, the family at that time, didn't know Bung Karno's status, so I said that Indonesians don't want to be in power doing things like that anymore, just wait for a long time, the justice is more than half a century," said the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

According to Megawati, the policy of the leadership of the MPR RI and President Prabowo must be a momentum for national reconciliation.

"In this regard, our Bung Karno's family through my brother's speech, Guntur on September 9, 2024 at the MPR RI Building confirmed that Bung Karno's family had forgiven all the treatment that had been taken against Bung Karno at that time," he said.

"The most important thing for Bung Karno's family and patriotic lovers is the rehabilitation of Bung Karno's good name as a proclaimer of the nation, pancasila digger and father of the Indonesian nation," concluded Megawati.
