Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KSAU) Marsdya TNI Andyawan Martono and his staff evaluated the use of the main weapons system (alutsista) of QW-19 and Chiron missiles to strengthen air defense.
The evaluation, said Marsdya TNI Andyawan Martono, is maximizing the function of QW-19 missiles and Chiron missiles as well as their operating procedures.
"The use of this missile plays an important role in supporting complex air operations so it needs to be ensured in optimal conditions," said Andyawan during an evaluation meeting with his staff in an official TNI AU press release reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 9.
Previously, the Indonesian Air Force had tested the use of the missile on several occasions, one of which was in the Angkasa Yudha training event in 2024.
Not only evaluating the effectiveness of the missile, the Deputy KSAU also evaluated the ranks of the Rapid Action Forces Command (Kopasgat), which is a unit of users of the missile.
The Deputy KSAU hopes that Kopasgat can be more effective in carrying out its duties and can operate QW-19 missiles and Chiron missiles in protecting the airspace.
"In addition to ensuring the technical readiness of defense equipment, this meeting also encourages the creation of more solid coordination between various elements of command to strengthen synergies in supporting national air defenses," said the contents of the press release.
With this meeting, Marsdya TNI Andyawan hopes that all elements of the Indonesian Air Force from defense equipment and combat units will be more prepared to carry out state security tasks.
The QW-19 missile belonging to the Indonesian Air Force's Kopasgat is an active missile that can function to lock the target strongly with a duration of 10 seconds.

This Chinese-made missile has anti-jamming capabilities so it is impossible to hack any software. The missile also has a trigger technology and a proxy laser that allows missiles to explode when hitting or shortly approaching the target.
With this capability, missiles can pursue several small low-altitude targets such as cruise missiles and helicopters, while the Chiron missile is a Korean defense equipment that has the ability to pursue targets at a speed of 700 meters per second.
The firing range of this missile is 7 kilometers long. The Chiron missile is also equipped with a two-color infrared guide (IR/UV) that helps eliminate infrared precautions (IRCM).
