CIREBON - The Cirebon City Fire and Rescue Service (DKPP), West Java, managed to extinguish the fire that hit the Cirebon Grage Mall on Wednesday (7/1) night, within 30 minutes. Four fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
Head of the Operations Preparedness Section of the Cirebon City DKPP, Nurjaman, said that his party received a fire report from the shopping center management at around 19.30 WIB. Following up on the report, his team immediately moved quickly to prevent the fire from spreading.
According to him, the fire, which was blazing quite large, was successfully extinguished by officers at the scene and it was confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.
"We received a report from the mall management, then immediately dispatched four fire engines to deal with the blaze. Thank God, the fire can be controlled and extinguished within 30 minutes," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 8.
Nurjaman said that his party could not confirm the exact cause of the fire. The identification process is still being carried out with the police to find out the source of the fire and the factors causing it.
Nevertheless, he said, the fire was thought to have come from the Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) on the roof west of the shopping center building.
"We cannot confirm the cause of the fire yet. Further identification is needed to ascertain the causes and potential losses incurred," he said.
During the fire, he continued, a number of visitors and mall employees were asked to be evacuated through the back door of the building. This is done to ensure the safety of everyone.
