DENPASAR - Bali Police denied rejecting the report of a foreign citizen (WNA) from Turkey with the initials ZA who claimed to be a victim of online fraud in Bali.

This was discovered after it went viral on social media Tiktok which posted with the title "A Turkish Woman Rejected by Indonesian Police Requests Legal Protection".

"The clarification on the rejection of the Turkish foreigner's report is not true," said

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, in a written statement, Wednesday, January 8.

Jansen explained that the Directorate of Cyber Investigation (Ditressiber) of the Bali Police received a report from foreigners from Turkey regarding the rental of a yoga package villa in the Canggu area, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali. The Turkish citizen admitted that he had paid the payment while still in Turkey.

"However, on the way to Bali, the person concerned had a chat via WhatsApp with the villa admin and there was a dispute that resulted in the person concerned being blocked. The dispute was related to the change in the location of the villa which was not in accordance with the order so that the person concerned asked to be refunded," added Jansen.

Arriving on the island of Bali, the Turkish resident went straight to the Kuta Police to report the incident. Furthermore, the Kuta Police directed him to make a report to the Bali Police Diressiber accompanied by Kuta Police personnel.

Furthermore, when he arrived at the Ditressiber picket, the Turkish citizen did not include any evidence of fraud.

The picket officer explained that the report procedure and Turkish citizens were directed to complete the evidence of fraud they wanted to report.

"However, after that until now, the Turkish foreigner has not returned to the Bali Police Ditressiber picket," he said.

Kombes Jansen also conveyed that procedures related to police reports must be based on clear evidence. The Bali Police are said to have served and received any reports related to alleged criminal acts.

"If there is still not enough evidence and when reporting does not bring evidence against the alleged criminal incident, how will we put it in the police report to be followed up according to existing legal procedures," he said.

"So we emphasize that there is no rejection of reports from foreigners from Turkey as viral on social media.

"There was a Ditressiber picket at that time that explained the report procedure and the person concerned was asked to complete the evidence related to the alleged fraud. However, until now the person concerned did not come to report the confession of fraud," said Kombes Jansen.
