President Prabowo Orders Land Confiscated By Corruption To Build MBR Housing

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto ordered through the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait to optimize state assets, such as land confiscated by corruption cases, to build housing for low-income people (MBR).

This was revealed by PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait after a limited meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of ATR/Head of BPN Nusron Wahid, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy, President Director of BTN Nixon LP Napitupulu, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

"It will be further processed how we will make a legal scheme, which has legal certainty, and also the just. Especially for low-income people, MBR, which is Rp. 8 million and below," said Maruarar when giving a statement at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, reported by ANTTARA, Tuesday, January 7.

Maruarar explained that President Prabowo gave very clear directions on land optimization, namely land confiscated by corruption cases, to land with non-extended Cultivation Rights (HGU) to build MBR housing.

According to Maruarar, the land will be legalized into state assets through the Director General of State Assets of the Ministry of Finance and Land Bank, so that it can be used for the accelerated development program of 3,000,000 MBR houses.

The Minister of PKP will then coordinate with the Minister of ATR, so that the community can have Building Use Rights (HGB) on the land.

"The president has conveyed directions on how the land remains owned by the state, yes, but later the building can be owned by consumers, by the people," said Maruarar.

The government has also prepared a financing scheme for MBR with an income of under Rp. 8 million.

The financing scheme is aimed at people who work in the informal sector, such as meatball traders, to vegetable sellers who do not have a fixed salary, but have a business and income.

"We make schemes, methods so that people can also own houses with income by supervising, assisting, looking at their place of sale, and so on," said Maruarar.
