Constitutional Court Removes Threshold For Presidential Candidacy, Gerindra: Prabowo Has Not Focused On The 2029 Presidential Election

JAKARTA Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has not thought about the 2029 Presidential Election (Pilpres), even though the Constitutional Court (MK) has removed the presidential nomination threshold.

Currently, Prabowo's main focus is on running priority programs that have been promised in the 2024 presidential election campaign.

"President Prabowo has not thought too much about the 2029 presidential election because he has just served and is focusing on implementing priority programs as president," said Muzani at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, January 6.

Muzani explained that superior programs such as free nutritious food, food and energy self-sufficiency, and downstream industry are Prabowo's top priorities. In addition, he is also preparing for the 2025 Hajj to run smoothly.

"He prioritizes his presidency to be effective and really bring prosperity to the people until 2029," added Muzani.

Regarding the Constitutional Court's decision to abolish the presidential nomination threshold, Muzani said the decision was surprising. Previously, material tests related to the presidential nomination threshold had been submitted more than 30 times, but were always rejected.

"It was recorded that more than 30 similar lawsuits were filed, but this is the first time the Constitutional Court has granted it. This is a surprise as well as a new hope for Indonesian democracy," concluded Muzani.
