US Will Implement Additional Sanctions For Russia

JAKARTA - The Joe Biden administration plans to impose additional sanctions on Russia.

This time the United States (US) is targeting oil tankers at prices above 60 US dollars (around Rp972,000) per barrel, according to a Reuters report citing two sources familiar with the case.

It was reported that Russia used old ships to transport fuel to avoid predetermined price limits.

"This will be a big package," one unnamed source told Reuters.

Another source revealed that these sanctions may also include actions against individuals involved in oil trading networks at prices above the specified limits.

Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stressed the US would continue to seek to tighten sanctions against Russian oil exports.

He also stated that sanctions could be imposed on ships suspected of transporting oil by violating previously enforced price limits.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that the country is capable of facing the pressure of sanctions that the West has imposed over the past few years and continues to rise.

Russia also insists the West do not have the courage to admit the failure of their sanctions against the country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that the policy to suppress and weaken Russia was a long-term Western strategy.

He also emphasized that the sanctions had had a serious impact on the global economy.

According to Putin, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
