Family of Tangerang-Merak Toll Road Shooting Victims Plans to Bring the Case to LPSK

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) Susilaningtyas said that her party has been proactive in communicating with the family of the shooting victim at the rest area at Kilometer 45 of the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road, Tangerang Regency, Banten.

"We have been proactive in communicating with the victim's family so that we will meet the victim and family," said Susilaningtyas when contacted via text message, Monday, January 6, as quoted by Antara.

Susilaningtyas explained that there has been no official request for protection from the victim's family. However, she ensured that the victim's family will visit the LPSK office in the near future.

"There has been no official request to the LPSK. The family said they will go to the LPSK office," she said.

LPSK protection, she added, can be given since a case is still under investigation. Regarding the form of protection that will be given to the family or victim, it depends on the needs and conditions of the case.

"For example, the victim is injured, so if they need medical assistance, they can submit it to the LPSK and we will serve them later. If there is a threat, for example, then we can organize physical protection," explained Susilaningtyas.

The shooting incident against the car rental owner occurred at the rest area of ​​Kilometer 45 of the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road, Jayanti, Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday, January 2 at 04.30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). In the incident, the car rental boss, IAR, died from a gunshot to the chest, while his employee, RAB, was injured.

The incident began when the witness, NN, saw several cars chasing each other and stopped at the Kilometer 45 rest area. From one of the black minibuses, the perpetrator allegedly fired five bullets that hit two victims.

According to another witness, the incident began with the misuse of IAR's rental car. The car renter allegedly cut off the vehicle's trail so that the victim and his team tracked the vehicle he rented. After tracking and chasing, the victim was suddenly shot.

Head of Public Relations of the Tangerang Police, Ipda Purbawa in Tangerang, Saturday, January 4, said that Ajat Supriatna (AS) as the person looking for the rental car has been named a suspect. The investigation team also secured another alleged perpetrator, namely I who is suspected of being involved in the attempt to embezzle the victim's rental car.

In addition, the Commander of the Navy Military Police Center (Danpuspomal) Rear Admiral TNI Samista in Jakarta, Monday, admitted that there were officers suspected of being the perpetrators of the shooting. Three Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) officers, namely Sergeant AA, Sergeant RH, and KLK BA, have been secured and are under investigation.
