Floods In North Morowali, One Person Dies

PALU - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Central Sulawesi Province (Sulteng) said one person died due to floods that hit Duanda-Ganda Village, North Morowali Regency in Friday (3/1).

"Based on a temporary report, the flood that hit Duanda-Ganda Village, Petasia District caused one person to die, and three people suffered minor injuries," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of Central Sulawesi BPBD Andy Sembiring as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, January 4.

The flood occurred at around 17.45 WITA on Friday (3/1) after heavy rains flushed since 12.00 WITA, causing flash floods in Duanda-Ganda Village, and damage to one of the mine workers' stalls.

The local BPBD is still collecting data for the number of damaged houses, as well as other urgent needs.

"The local BPBD team is currently still collecting data for the number of displaced residents, as well as urgent needs," he said.

Until now, the rain is still pouring down. He appealed to residents to continue to increase their vigilance if they live in areas prone to hydrometeorological disasters.
