A landslide disaster occurred in Rahtawu Village, Gebog District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, causing road access to the only road in the local village to the city to be disrupted because some roads experienced landslides on Wednesday.

According to the Village Head of Rahtawu Didik Aryadi in Kudus, the landslide occurred early Wednesday after heavy rains.

At the end of the year, he said, signs that the road would experience landslides had indeed been seen, with the erosion of land around the main road of the local village.

The width of the road is about 4 meters, but the landslide caused half of the road to disappear due to landslides with a road length of 10 meters and a depth of about 8 meters.

However, he added, the road can still be passed by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles carefully.

"In order for further landslides not to occur, it does need handling. If the district government does not make improvements, of course we will do it with village funds," he said.

Previously, his party had also proposed a repair budget of IDR 150 million which was planned to be carried out in February 2025, but immediately collapsed.

The Chief Executive of the Kudus BPBD, Mundir, confirmed that Jalan Desa Rahtawu had a landslide at around 05.00 WIB.

"The status of the road is a village road. Information from the Head of Hamlet IV, Semliro Rahtawu, in mid-January 2025 or when the weather supports improvements will be made," he said.

To avoid unwanted things, around the landslide location there are wood and barrier lines.

Based on disaster-prone maps, landslide-prone areas are spread across 13 villages, including the villages of Rahtawu, Menawan, Jurang, and Kedungsari (Gebog District), Terban Village (Jekulo District), as well as Soco, Ternadi, Japan, Kuwukan, Puyoh, Colo, Dukuh Waringin, and Cranggang (Dawe District).
